Will Spirit separate me from my toddler?
Spirit currently has no official family seating policy. It only states that it "can't guarantee that you'll sit with your friends and family" if you don't purchase seat assignments; it says that gate agents will work to provide adjacent seats for guests flying with children aged 13 and under whenever possible.

Spirit Airlines Checked Baggage Allowance:
Passengers can check up to five bags into the hold but must pay a fee. Each bag must not exceed 62 inches (158 cm) in total dimensions, or 40 lbs (18.1 kg).
Family Seating:
If Guests with children aged 13 and under do not opt to pre-select seats at the time of booking, our gate agents and Flight Attendants will work to provide adjacent seats when possible.

Spirit carry on policy
Dimensions must not exceed 22 x 18 x 10 inches with no weight limit, and of course you can also take your personal item on board. You can find out more information about this including a bag price checker on their website here.
Most airlines allow backpacks as carry-ons, but size and weight restrictions vary depending on the carrier. Typically, the bag must be within the cabin baggage dimensions of around 22 x 14 x 9 inches (56 x 36 x 22 cm), commonly considered the standard size for carry-on.
Instead, there are a few things you can do to avoid paying baggage fees by preparing before you head to the airport. This includes signing up for the right credit card, enrolling in a paid loyalty program, or booking the right ticket class, but it varies from airline to airline.
You'll have to double it for a roundtrip flight. For years, there was an easy way to save on these carry-on fees: the Spirit Saver$ Club, the airline's $70-a-year membership program that saved travelers $7 (or more) on bag fees among other perks. But that has changed: Now, Saver$ Club members save just $1 per bag.
How can I get baggage fees waived?
- Hold elite status (or travel with a friend/family member with elite status)
- Carry the right credit card (or travel with a friend/family member with the right card)
- Purchase a premium ticket (typically premium economy, business and/or first class)

When travelling as a family of 4 I choose two rows of 2, opposed to the middle aisle of 4 seats. Having a window is so handy to rest up against and also means no sibling fighting! If the configuration is 3 x 3 I will put 2 of us 2 rows (one aisle and one window)...
Most U.S. airlines will permit children who have reached their fifth birthday to travel unaccompanied. Kids ages 5 through 11 who are flying alone must usually travel pursuant to special “unaccompanied minor” procedures. On some airlines, these procedures are required for unaccompanied children as old as 14.
Why has my airline split up our seats on the plane? Statistically, people are more likely to avoid booking a middle seat and opt for the aisle or window seat instead. In turn, this creates more available middle seats than the others that need to be filled.
Big Front Seats are the best and most expensive seat selection that Spirit offers. These seats are larger, more comfortable, and have more legroom than the airline's standard seats, and are located at the front of the plane.
We will happily check one stroller and one car seat per child for no extra cost at the ticket counter. If you are traveling with two children, you are more than welcome to check a double stroller instead. You may also check these items at the gate.
How to book the Spirit Big Front Seat. You can select to upgrade your ticket to the Big Front Seat when making your seat selections during checkout on eligible flights. You might be wondering if you can use Free Spirit points for your upgrade.
You can always skip seat selection and save the money, but do keep a few things in mind: Skipping seat selection doesn't mean you won't get a seat on the flight. You might get stuck in the middle seat if you don't pay for one.
How do you make sure you sit together on a plane?
The most important rule to make sure you all sit together: Book flights and reserve seats early. That's the simplest and cleanest way. Second, list all family members on the same reservation. If someone booked at a different time, link their reservation to yours.
Spirit assigns random seats to its passengers during check-in. To choose a seat you want, you have to pay for seat assignments starting at $5. You can also pick what's known as a Big Front Seat, which is essentially a first-class-style seat with fewer perks.
If your carry-on is too big, you will either have to pay penalty fees or check your luggage. Checking your luggage means that your carry-on won't be traveling with you but will instead be sent to the airplane cargo, and you will be able to claim it once the plane lands.
Neck and head pillows can be carried on the aircraft as long as they fit completely in your personal item bag. In some cases wheelchairs, car seats and strollers may be checked or carried on free of charge.
What is Considered a Personal Item on Spirit Airlines. Your luggage can be any shape as long as it fits inside those strict dimensions. That goes for purses, backpacks, duffel bags, laptop cases, tote bags and, of course, the Bento Bag.
Family Seating:
If Guests with children aged 13 and under do not opt to pre-select seats at the time of booking, our gate agents and Flight Attendants will work to provide adjacent seats when possible.
Free-spirited parents are all about giving their children the freedom to explore, make their own decisions, and learn from their mistakes. They believe that the best way for kids to learn and grow is through trial and error and experiencing whatever they're drawn to.
When flying on Spirit Airlines, families traveling with children who are age 3 or under are allowed to board between Boarding Zone 2 and Boarding Zone 3. Families will be able to board after elite members, credit card holders, and those who have paid for priority boarding, but before general boarding begins.
Free Spirit is Spirit Airlines' loyalty program and Gold members get a free carry-on and checked bag on every flight. This policy does not extend to travel companions. To earn Free Spirit Gold Status, you'll need to earn 5,000 Free Spirit Status Qualifying Points (SQPs).

Are bags free with Spirit credit card?
Unlike a lot of other airline credit cards, the Free Spirit® Travel More World Elite Mastercard® doesn't offer free checked bags. And that could be a significant cost on top of what otherwise might be a rock-bottom ticket price: Checked-bag fees with Spirit start at $30 one way.
One personal item that fits entirely in the smaller sizer box (like a purse, small backpack, etc.) is included with your ticket. Another personal item or anything larger like a standard carry-on or checked bag will need to be paid for.
Spirit's personal item policy is as follows: 18 x 14 x 8 inches with no weight limit. Now, that might not sound like a great deal – but depending on the duration and type of trip it might just be enough to keep you going.
It may also be printed on your boarding pass for even easier checking. Their business model is based on charging for carry ons; i guarantee they have a way to quickly verify it. If you don't want to pay for a carry on, don't fly an airline that charges for it. It's literally printed on your boarding pass.
Spirit Airlines (NK) allows 1 personal item (purse, briefcase, laptop bag) per passenger fee free. Carry-on should not exceed the following size and weight restrictions: 50 linear inches (22 x 18 x 10 in) or 127 centimeters (56 x 46 x 25 cm) including handles and wheels.

Domestic carry-on policies. A good rule of thumb is that if your carry-on bag fits under the seat in front of you, it's considered a personal item. This includes small backpacks, purses, briefcases, laptop bags, etc. Larger bags, including suitcases, must fit in the overhead bin compartment.
There is no complimentary beverage or snack service on Spirit flights. Doing this helps us to keep prices low for all of our passengers. We do not offer any special dietary meals; however, our menu selection still provides a range of options that should meet most dietary requirements. Our menu is below.
You could take a backpack on Spirit Airlines for free as your personal item, provided the measurements of the backpack do not exceed 18 x 14 x 8 inches. If it is larger than these measurements you would incur a fee for standard carry-on with a maximum size allowance of 22 x 18 x 10 inches.
